Dear [Name],
This year’s elections were a resounding success for pro-climate parties – with VoteClimate’s recommended candidates winning 1,290 seats on the English councils. Pro-climate Greens and Lib Dems also made gains in the Scottish and Welsh parliamentary elections.
It also proved that our approach works. In the 2,480 local elections where both pro-climate parties – the Greens and the Lib Dems – were standing, we correctly predicted which would perform best in 2,340 cases. And now we have more data about newcomers Reform’s performance, our predictions – and recommendations – will be even better in future elections.
The pro-climate Greens and Lib Dems did well – winning 1,431 seats between them. We’re excited by these results and the accuracy of our predictions. Together, we can build on these successes to secure more wins for the climate at the general election, whenever it comes.
To do this, we need to build fast. We have over 7,000 members – we want to take this number into the hundreds of thousands. We think this is doable, but we need your help.

From the hottest May days on record in the UK to the prospect of the strongest El Niño in 140 years, the effects of climate breakdown are all around us. We can still avert the worst effects – but to do so we need to mobilise as many people as possible to VoteClimate before the next general election so politicians are forced to take climate seriously. Together, we can make a difference – and the time for action is now!

Later this month, Parliament will debate the seventh carbon budget, which will set out the UK's legally binding limit on greenhouse gas emissions from 2038–2042. The Carbon Reckoning project has found that the budget is too weak. Ask your MP to call for a carbon budget in line with the science. Quakers, Carbon Reckoning Project and MP Watch have created this briefing for your MP plus a draft letter for them to send to Ed Miliband:

With very best wishes,
